What is a caipirinha and why is it the perfect summer cocktail? Today we’ll teach you all about caipirinhas and how to make our take on this refreshing Brazilian beverage.
A caipirinha is a cocktail typically made with Cachaça, sugar, and lime. Cachaça is a distilled spirit made from fermented sugarcane juice and is the national spirit of Brazil. Caipirinhas are often made with fresh limes, but can also be made with other fruits like strawberries, mangoes, or even passionfruit.
Caipirinhas are refreshing, tart, and slightly sweet, making them the perfect summer cocktail. The lime provides a sour kick, while the sugar balances out the flavors. And of course, the cachaça gives the cocktail its signature Brazilian flair.
We’re going to give you our version of a caipirinha to make a refreshing summer cocktail for you and your guests!
To make the “Summer Brazilian”, you will need:
- 4oz Lebanon Cachaça
- 2oz Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur
- 3 strawberries
- 3 pineapple pieces
- 4 lime wedges
- 2 sugar cubes
The caipirinha is a very simple cocktail to make, but there is a certain methodology that goes into making the perfect caipirinha
First, you’re going to muddle your fruit to release its juices and sugar cubes at the bottom of your mixing glass or shaker tin until broken up and the flavors are mixed together. Add your two alcohols, the Cachaça and Blood Orange Liqueur, ice, and shake in a set of metal shaker tins. If you don’t have shakers, not a problem! Simply “roll” your drink back and forth in two different glasses until mixed and diluted from your ice. Here’s a shaker we love to use ourselves making this cocktail! (Amazon link here). Strain into two rocks glasses filled with fresh ice, and spoon in some of your fruit to infuse more flavor and garnish with a pineapple wedge.
And there you have it, our take on a refreshing caipirinha perfect for summer sipping! This cocktail is tart and sweet with a sour kick, and is sure to be a hit with your guests. So what are you waiting for? Get to mixin’!
